HaunterCentral Is YOUR site
HaunterCentral is bringing to Halloween a true sense of community 'spirit' - pardon the pun. We strive to be a site that is open to anyone to not only read and post comments, but to actually RUN the site and expand it. Much like open source software and Wikipedia have done for programming and information, HaunterCentral strives to do for Halloween. We are not in it for the money. We are not here to sell ads. We are not here to promote a product. We are here to promote haunting in all of its forms and support those that have given so much to the haunting community over the decades.
What can you expect from HaunterCentral? Nothing. Not a thing. Think of us as a neutral site. A combination of landlord, Switzerland, Google, the Geneva Convention, the Rand Corporation and on-call nerds. Our goal as site administrators is to try to set up a playground for haunters to come and enjoy and create the best web based haunt resources possible. We intend to use that strategy to bring the worlds best haunters to us, give them tools to collaborate, and a place to introduce the results of those collaborations to the haunt community as projects that can be built upon, customized, and expanded to suit the needs of the specific haunter.
Much the way Walt Disney explained that Disneyland will never be finished, HaunterCentral will work in a similar manner. Features may come and go as time passes. Ideas will be incubated, hatched, and managed by a group of interested haunters to thrive, fail, change, and thrive again. We hope to give these ideas a comfortable home to try to avoid the forking syndrome and splitting of resources and talents across so many haunt sites. HaunterCentral believes that progress can be made by collaboration and pooling of talents and skills and working on common goals rather than splitting and reinventing the wheel. We hope to foster that goal.
Stay tuned as this site develops and grows. We will soon be accepting applications for haunters who share our philosophy and wish to spend time (not money) building the HaunterCentral framework and concept.
Thank you,
Rich Barron
